If I linked to your blog using the anchor text of "Rory's website" then I would be telling Google that your site is about Rory's website. You wouldn't ever want links like that because no one is going to ever search for "Rory's website". You want to get links back to your blog from Hubpages, Squidoo, blog comments, etc that have the exact anchored keywords in them that you hope people are searching for. If they are searching for those keywords and your blog is on the first page of Google for them, they will be able to find your blog.
