The picture below shows how many referrals I have as of 11/2/09 with CashCrate. As you can see, I have over 30,000 first level referrals and ONLY about 4000 2nd level referrals. While most people would love to have those statistics, it is that 2nd level number that I am very disappointed with:

What it shows is that out of all the 30,000 people that have signed up under me, no one has learned to effectively refer others. Contrast that chart against this one of someone who is very lucky and no longer bothers to even promote CashCrate much (as far as I know) because they are happy with all the money the 2nd level referrals are bringing in:

As you can clearly see in the chart above, out of the 2705 first level referrals this person has gotten, one or more of them have turned into referring whales. According to the blog where I found this, this person is consistently making $600 to $800 per month by doing NOTHING as a handful of their 1st level referrals keep signing up more people.

Using CashCrate and other online surveys for money sites like it, you can truly build up a passive income online if you are lucky. The problem is how to get 1st level referrals who will become adept at making their own referrals so that you can make the 20% off of what those referrals do?

If you only refer beginners (which are what 99 % of the people who sign up to CashCrate are), there is little chance that any of them will truly take the time and have the patience to learn how to blog and get their own referrals. I have found that trying to teach beginners is about as painful as pulling my hair out. It is no fun at all and largely a total waste of time, at least so far.

If you  do get lucky and somehow refer someone who is already an established Internet marketer, then you will have a great asset under you but how do you find someone like that and then get them to sign up?

Unfortunately, I have still not been able to figure out a way to raise my odds of getting any of these 1st level referrals that already know what they are doing or ones that will learn how to refer other people and end up making me additional money passively. One of my goals with this blog was to have a learning  source that I could direct my own referrals to and where they could learn how to start a blog and become successful on their own. After all, the more successful your 1st level referrals are, the more money the original referrer will make.

The number of my CashCrate 2nd level referrals has been going up faster than it used to but still no where near where I would like it to be. I’d love to be building a passive income online and CashCrate is a great place to do it. Unfortunately, getting 1st level referrals who know how to make referrals of their own seems to involve a lot of luck.

So how do you make money online if you live in the U.K., Singapore, the Philippines, India, or Malaysia? How do you make money if you live in any one of the European Union countries and would like to take advantage of the sheer numbers of buyers we have in America?

If you live in another country and you join, you won’t have many offers to do BUT you can refer other people and get full credit. There are many members from Canada and Australia who are very successful at making money with CashCrate by making referrals. I am sure there are people from other countries as well.

The best way to make referrals for CashCrate is to have at least one blog. You need to learn how to write original content on your blog and you need to get backlinks to move it up to the first page of Google for the terms you are targeting. It seems hard at first but anyone from Great Britain, the Philippines, Singapore, Canada, India, Malaysia, or any country can do it.

None of it is easy and you really do need to be able to write in English to get American people to sign up. You see, only referrals from the U.S. count so you need to target Americans.

Read from my first post and you will discover how you can make money with CashCrate surveys by making referrals. As you can see by my checks, it can be quite profitable and all international users can do it too.

Many people overcome this by signing up to many survey sites and maxing out each one every month. They don’t all have exactly the same offers and surveys so it is possible to make $20 on one site, $30 on another survey site, and maybe even $50 on a third one. The more sites you sign up for, the more opportunities you have to make money. Many people are perfectly happy doing surveys and offers every month and they can make a consistent $100 to $200 that way and maybe even more with some hard work.

Making money with paid online surveys is slow and methodical if you have the patience to do it. CashCrate though, gives you the opportunity to make a lot more by referring other people to the site and having them join up. By now you should realize that pretty much from the beginning of time, the world has revolved around advertising and getting people to do or buy what you want them to. CashCrate has one of the best paid online surveys sites and probably the best referral program of anyone so how is it a scam to promote it? Everything a person needs to succeed is there on the site either in the tutorials or the forum and any new member can get answers to all their questions.

There are many ways to make money on your computer but they all involve some degree of work. To be successful, you need to learn what your options are and what methods are best for you. Not everyone can make money online because not everyone has the writing ability and the computer knowledge to be successful. If you don’t have any skills though, there is no reason why you can’t learn everything you need to learn but you can’t expect overnight success. People claim CashCrate and other sites are scams out of frustration and their false belief that it should be easy to make money online.

If you are one of the ones who think CashCrate is a scam you should head over to the forum and find the “I Just Got Paid” thread. If CashCrate is a scam, then everyone in that forum is lying. Why would they do that? If there is no money to be made with these paid online surveys, why would everyone be lying about it? 

I know that many banners you see are cool looking and some they might even look good on your blog. How can people not click them, you ask? They look so…so…click-able. The fact is though, that there is something called banner blindness and it is very, very real.

If you are hawking any of the online surveys for money sites on your blog, you are probably tempted to put up the banners. If you ever get a blog with traffic you might even be able to sell the ad space. But data has always shown that banner ads are some of the worst converting methods of getting affiliate sales. People who pay for these banners are usually just giving their money away.

Once you get to the Silver referral level with CashCrate, you will have access to “CashCrate Pro” which has some additional tools to help you to create multiple referral links, monitor conversion rates, and it shows clicks and signups. What you can do is set up a special link for each of your banners and you can prove to yourself how useless they are. You will find that they hardly ever get clicks and almost never a sign up.

So then, if banners don’t work for getting referrals, how do some people get so many? Besides getting laser targeted traffic to their blogs (this means people who want to make money or need money), they get people to sign up for CashCrate through the texlinks in the sentences. People are much more willing to click text links than they are banners which they often totally ignore.

If you don’t believe this then I suggest you check it out on your own blog. Set up your banners so they have one or more of the custom links in CashCrate Pro. Then, set your text links to some of the other custom links and compare which does better. You will find that although your banners look great, they perform very, very poorly.

Another thing is to pay attention to your own habits online. Chances are that you click a lot more text links than you do banners. Most people totally ignore all banners just like they do while they are walking down the street. You know they are there but you also know they are an advertisement so you ignore them.

If you want to make money online and with paid online surveys, you need to target audiences that HAVE NEVER HEARD OF CASHCRATE! Do any of you understand that?

Whenever I take a peek at the CashCrate forum, I see newbie after newbie bragging about their new blog which proudly has the name CashCrate in it and is a one or two page piece of spam blog. I guess their goal is to get lots of hits from people searching for CashCrate if they have any plan at all which they don’t.

I have proof that there is NO MONEY IN THE KEYWORD “CASHCRATE”. In other words, even if you are successful and get to the top of Google for that word (which you won’t), there are not enough people searching for it to make it worthwhile.

The proof is in this post from Broke Grad Student where he writes about having made $1000.00 with CashCrate. He shows his payouts for 2009 which total $594.70 and that is great accept that I sometimes make that in ONE WEEK and he did it in 7 MONTHS! (see my CashCrate check proof and note that very few if any of my referrals come from this blog)

Now if you do a Google search for the word ”CashCrate” you will see that Broke Grad Student is in position #3 (and #4)  for that term that everyone is chasing so hard. (see below)  His blog has been in that 3rd position for quite some time and all he has gotten out of it is $594.70 and that proves there are very few searches for “CashCrate”!

This blog has also briefly been on and off the first page for CashCrate and I have hardly gotten any hits at all. So, before you run out and make a new blog, figure out some other strategy and make a blog about people who need money. Make your blog about college students or out of work workers or any other segment of the population that needs some extra income. Target those keywords and when you start getting people who need money or want money, then you start selling them the CashCrate paid online surveys opportunity.

I’m not selling you anything and all you need to do is start reading this blog from the first post to see how you can get started. A lot of money can be made online if you know how and put your mind to it. Making money from paid online surveys like CashCrate is only the beginning as once you learn how to do that you will know how to make money with any online affiliate program. If you are motivated, you can do it!

When you set out to make CashCrate referrals, what you are doing is attempting to make money at what is called affiliate marketing. CashCrate is the affiliate and you are marketing them to other people. In return for getting people to join, Cash Crate is willing to give you a small percentage of what they bring in. The online world has often been compared to the real world in that web addresses and websites have been called “real estate”. The fact is that no matter what URL you choose, with enough content and anchored backlinks you can be successful at turning a profit. With the proper amount of knowledge and work, over time you can build something that will make you money on an ongoing basis. Yes, you may have to do some work maintaining and growing your site, but once you get it to a certain point you will be able to cut back some and still make money.

One of the best ways to grow your online business is to start out with a flagship blog and then expand to have multiple blogs. Some people have over a 1000 blogs and needless to say, they have a full time job in front of them. Having multiple blogs allows you to tackle all sorts of different topics and niches that you think you can make money from. It also spreads out the risk in case something goes wrong with one of your sites. If you have all your eggs in one blog so to speak, what happens if your site gets hacked or deleted by Blogger if you have a Blogger blog?

You Can Proceed At Your Own Pace

The great think about affiliate marketing and getting CashCrate referrals is that you can do it on your own time and there is no rush. If you have a week off and have lots of time to put in, you can crank out as much content and get as many anchored links as you want. The next week, if you are busy with something else, what you have done the week before will not disappear. It is truly one of the best ways to make money there is. It will still be there when you get back. The Internet is not going away and neither will the blog or blogs you start. They will be there whether you update them or not and you can go at your own pace.

This is the second time I have mentioned starting multiple blogs to get CashCrate referrals. Many of the CashCrate elites who make the most referrals have many different blogs about different subjects. That is how they find a variety of people willing to sign up to CashCrate. By starting more than one blog, you are really expanding your business. The more blogs you have that are spread out among different niches, the more opportunities you will have to make money. Perhaps though I should get you to the point where you can have one successful blog first before you go out and make a bunch of them.

1) The biggest reason is that they are beginners and just don’t know how to get referrals. They don’t know much about  blogging, Internet marketing, SEO, or making money online. This is not to disparage them, it is just a fact. I know because I was totally clueless when I started.

2) The second reason is that they really don’t know anything about how to get targeted traffic to their blogs. Most don’t know how to get any kind of traffic to their blogs much less traffic that converts. Remember, there are MILLIONS of blogs out there and theirs is just another one of them. I know they think that their blog is THE BEST blog but in reality it is just one of millions.

Anyway, most CashCrate blogs are a rehash of the same old stuff. If you have a blog about CashCrate or any of the surveys for money sites, take a good look at it. Then take a look at your friend’s blogs. I’ll bet they have the same stuff on their blogs as you do on yours. C’mon, admit it. You know it’s true. There are thousands of CashCrate related blogs out there with basically the same stuff rehashed and rehashed again: the same tips, the same excitement over receiving a check, the same “sign up under me”. Why would anyone read it even if they could find it?

3) The third mistake is that most people spend all their time in forums leaving replies to threads hoping that someone will click the link in their signature. They jump from forum to forum all day leaving their posts with their links. I know, some people have had some success with this method but that is not a long term solution. Is that what they want to do the rest of their life: spending hours a day reading and leaving forum posts hoping people will click their links? How long can they keep that up before they get bored out of their mind and quit?

4) The fourth mistake that 99% of the CashCrate bloggers make is that their whole blog is only about CashCrate! HEY, what’s wrong with that you ask? Again, everyone is only talking about CashCrate and how great it is and “sign up after me”. If they are super lucky, they are hoping to get to the first page of Google for “CashCrate” and pretty much nothing else. Everyone has blinders on and can’t see past the word CashCrate.

When a new CashCrate blogger sets out to get referrals and starts their first blog, what do 99% of them have in the title or URL? They all name it CashCrate this, CashCrate that, Cash this, Cash that, I love CashCrate, CashCrate is cool, or CashCrate is the bomb. Do you understand that they are all targeting the same very, very small group of people who happen to be looking for CashCrate of which many might already have signed up?

The thing they need to learn is that there is a whole HUGE Internet world out there and creativity will in the end get the most referrals. The people who win the referral contests and get tons of referrals every day are getting their signups from blogs about subjects other than CashCrate. If you want to get paid for surveys through referrals, you need to use your imagination.

Do you understand that? You can probably make more CashCrate referrals by starting a blog about how hard it is to be unemployed than you can by starting a blog about CashCrate. If you want to make lots of CashCrate referrals, start a blog about anything OTHER THAN CashCrate! All it needs to do is to target a group of people who need money.

Lets explore some of the groups who might need money. This would include people who are:

unemployed
laid off
feaful of getting laid off
between jobs
getting married and need money
saving for a car
saving for anything
want money to buy video games
college kids
high school kids
in debt and need money
in need of money for dates
interested in online poker and need money
work from home Moms
work from home Dads
looking for a side income
looking for an online income

The bigger your imagination, the bigger this list and the possibilities will become. Making a blog about any one of these subjects will give you the opportunity to make CashCrate referrals if you get your target audience to come to your blog. People searching for any one of those terms or subjects has most likely never heard of CashCrate and they need money! That is exactly what you want.

So, the next blog you set up, make it about something other than CashCrate. Once you have your blog established (which will take time and effort), you will then have the perfect place to get new CashCrate referrals.

Wait a minute, there is no easy way to get paid for surveys referrals. I can already tell by some of the comments that many people just want to start a blog, whip up a few posts, and sit back and watch the referrals come in. THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Unfortunately in our society everyone wants things right away. That’s why there is so much credit card debt: because people have to have things right now and can’t wait until they actually have the money or have earned them.

99% of the people who go online to make money fail or quit. You know why? Because they never figure out how and if they do, they realize it will be too much work. Most people who read this post and this blog will give up or never try. That is because making money online and getting CashCrate referrals is HARD and it takes WORK!

I’m sorry but that is the truth. There is no easy way to make money online. Period. If there were, we would all be rich right now. If anyone could jump online and make quick easy cash wouldn’t everyone be doing it? Who would bother with a job if it were that easy to make money on the Internet? Who would be waiting tables, checking people out at the grocery store, and growing the food we all eat? Everyone would be online getting rich.

This is a short message I got from someone yesterday after they took a look at my blog:

So…basically I get traffic from google onto a blog; refer people with a signup link that has me as their referer, and thats how I get 1.5k a month? haha, I dont think i have the technology savvy to do that.

Unfortunately many of you will give up for that reason too. You will determine it is just too hard to figure everything out. I can tell you I have spent thousands of hours learning what I know now including hundreds of hours doing things the wrong way and basically spinning my wheels. But if you read this blog, I can cut much of that learning curve out for you. But it still won’t be easy and you will have to do a lot of work if you want to make good money.

Why does everyone think it will be so easy? You study 12 years in school and then many of you go on to 4 or more years in college. Was that easy? Why did you bother? Why do you keep going with your education but end up quiting this when you find out it will take some work? If you want to make money online, just like anywhere else, you will have to learn how to do it. There isn’t any other way. You can’t just slap up a blog and start making money. IF YOU THINK THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN THEN YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE UP AND FAIL.

I know many of you will always think there is some easy formula or secret and you will keep searching for it. You will probably blow off this blog and go elsewhere convinced there is an easier way. When you fail to find it you will probably quit. But instead of quiting, why don’t you come back here to learn how to make money and CashCrate referrals the right way.

I am aware you want to know how to get traffic to your blogs. Again, you are hoping it will be simple. “Just tell me how to get traffic to my blog” you are probably thinking. WELL GUESS WHAT? I have already started to do that in all the posts before this one and probably for six months after this one.

Making money online is all about the traffic. This blog is about 3 weeks old now and I have very little of it. IT MAY BE 6 MONTHS OR MORE BEFORE I START TO GET DECENT TRAFFIC. Do I wish I could get traffic sooner? Of course I do! But so do a BILLION other websites out there.
