This is one of the reasons it is nice to have a real blog where you write things on a regular basis and have lots of posts as opposed to one of those one or two page pieces of crap most CashCraters put up. For instance, in this post I talk about lead generation and with that link, I have just told Google what that page is about. Links from within your blog count too and help give those pages authority that you link to.

The bigger your blog gets, the more opportunity you have to link from page to page. This is one thing that I admittadly don’t do well enough because it takes time and I am a bit lazy. For every post you write, you really should go back and link to anything relevant that you talk about in your new post. Likewise, you should go back and see if the post you have just written applies to anything you have already written and link from the old post to the new post.

These internal links help Google crawl your blog and help clearly identify what each page is about. It is hard to get link exchanges with other people and make secondary blogs all the time and many people overlook this simple thing they can do with their own blog to help with getting links.

The value of these internal links is not great but if you are in a niche with very little competition, they can help alot. Anyway, a link is a link and you should be doing anything and everything to get as many as you can if you want to make money with your online surveys for money blogs.

If you want to make money referring other people to paid online surveys sites like CashCrate, you need to get backlinks to your blog. HubPages is one of the sources you can use along with Squidoo, Blogger, and other sources.

Open Your Mind and Get Creative

You have to target people who need money. You can’t just write about CashCrate on your blog. YOU HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT OTHER THINGS AND TARGET DIFFERENT AUDIENCES! 99% of the blogs out there that are made by people hoping to get referrals are one page blogs (splogs) about CashCrate and they copy most or all of it from the CashCrate site itself. This shows a pathetic lack of creativity!

I know that most people that read this blog just don’t have a clue what I am talking about here. They are in their own little box and they can’t even begin to see out of it. They make their little one page splog and then they are amazed when people don’t show up and sign up. Even if they did get traffic no one would sign up because their blogs look so sad. (end of rant)

 Make Five Or More Hubs

What you want to do is to make a handful of HubPages and have each one target different keywords and target audiences. You DON”T want to make 5 HubPages about CashCrate. You need to make a HubPage about people out of work, one about college students who need money, one about people who fear they are going to be laid off, etc. YOU NEED TO BE CREATIVE AND COME UP WITH YOUR OWN IDEAS OF WHO MIGHT NEED MONEY. Each HupPage needs to be about a totally different segment of the population and each segment needs to be people who might need money and want to sign up to sites like CashCrate.

Then you need to put two anchored links in each HubPage back to your blog. THE ANCHORS NEED TO BE DIFFERENT AND THEY NEED TO TARGET DIFFERENT WORDS. You want to have a variety of links going back to your blog because you don’t want all your anchors to be exactly the same. You want it to look natural to Google and if your blog has exactly the same anchor for all the links that does not look natural. You might have anchors that are as follows:

college jobs
college work
money for college
part time college job
make money for college

These would all be achors you could use for your Hub about college students needing money. Then after you make that Hub, go and make more Hubs about different types of people who may also need money. Remember though, you are really doing this for the anchored links and not the traffic you will receive. If you do receive some traffic, figure out which words they are coming from and you can do more to target those words.  

Do Follow Links From HubPages

You also need to make about five HubPages because you have to get your author score over 75 and keep it there for the backlinks to be “do-follow” links. Anytime your author score dips below 75 the anchored backlinks will revert to “no-follow“. This doesn’t seem too hard to do though as I have about 6 Hubs and my author score seems to now stay in a range between 82 and 88. I’m not sure what determines your author score but you need to make sure it stays above 75 and so far that has been quite easy. If you are below 75, just make another HubPage.

Another good thing with HubPages is that you can monetize them. You are allowed to put your Google Adsense code in the affiliate section and your Adsense ads will be shown on 60% of the impressions. The other 40% of impressions will be HubPage’s Adsence ads. This is a better deal than Squidoo and you can make more money just from your HupPages if they start getting hits. You can also put your Ebay affiliate code in as well as your Amazon code and Kontera code. Some people are trying to make money by just putting up a lot of Hubs on their own and then monetizing them to make money.

If you start making a lot of HubPages, you can see which ones get Google traffic and which ones are duds. If you were to then create your own blog using  the same keywords as your Hubs that are winners, you will have a good chance of making money with your blog as well. In other words, people are using HubPages to test the waters and test different niches (you do know there are lots of niches other than online surveys for money, right?). Since HubPages has a lot of authority, it can sometimes rank well for a keyword on its own right out of the gate. If you were then to take that keyword and build a blog around that niche, you should be able to rank pretty easily on the first page of Google with just a handful of anchored links to your blog.

Up until now I haven’t talked about commenting on other blogs as a way to get anchored backlinks because I absolutely hate doing it. Of all the things I have ever done online in an attempt to make money, searching for do-follow blogs to post comments to is the most boring. I hate it, absolutely despise it…did I already say that? I also haven’t written about do-follow and no-follow links but I will do that at another time. Let it be said though, that if you want to get survey referrals from your blog and checks like this CashCrate check, you need anchored backlinks and blog commenting is another way to get them.

Commenting on other people’s blogs with your ANCHOR TEXT as your name will give your blog an anchored backlink. Ideally you want to do this on posts that are related to your blog, have a PR, and are posts that give out do-follow links. You can find many lists of this type of blog on the Internet (but usually they are wrong) and you can search for these blogs on your own. If there is anything that is more time consuming and boring please let me know.

BlogCommentDemon 2 has just come out and it is another quality product from Edwin Brian. I also have his BookMarkingDemon tool and it is of the highest quality as well. This guy just puts out great software and it always comes with a money back guarantee. For blog commenting software, I have tried others like Comment Kahuna and Comment Hut and this is vastly superior. I have not tried Fast Blog Finder so I can’t compare it to that.

At $47 this program is a great value and I know that if you are just starting out trying to make CashCrate referrals, you are probably going to have no interest in this because of the price. However, you should know that if you become successful at making survey referrals and money online, you will at some point WANT to spend money on some of the software that will make your life easier.

Again, it is important to note that this software has absolutely nothing to do with spamming. It is a program that will go out and find the type of blog posts you tell it to. You put in the topic keywords you are looking for and it will find all the posts about those keywords. What makes this software so nice is all the things you can tell it to do. For instance, you can sort by PR, by no-follow or do-follow, by age of the posts, by the number of comments already on the posts, the number of outgoing links on the post, titles of the posts, and a few others. Simply, this software is wonderful for what it lets you do with a couple pushes of a button.

BlogCommentDemon 2 comes with it’s newest feature that will keep track for you whether your comments have been approved. This is one of the main pain in the ass problems with blog commenting and spending all the time and effort. Most blog owners have their blogs set up so that they have to approve all comments. This means that most of the time you will go to a blog, leave your comment, and then never know whether your comment ever makes it through and is approved. This happens all the time whether you are doing it for links or not and it is very discouraging not knowing whether the time you just spent to leave a comment was wasted or not. The only way to ever know is to go back to each blog, find the post, and see whether your comment is there. Half the time it may not be and then you don’t know whether your comment was deleted because it went into the spam folder or whether the blog owner just hasn’t gotten around to it.

You NEVER AGAIN have to go back to the blogs and check manually if you are curious to see whether your comments are getting through! You can see whether the work and time you are spending is worth it and you can also keep track of blogs that are approving your commnets and ones that aren’t. After all, if your comment doesn’t get through on a blog why waste time ever going back to leave another.

The great thing about Edwin Brians software programs are that they save you time. Commenting on blogs in order to get valuable backlinks is something that most serious Internet marketers do at one time or another. These blog comments are not really to get traffic (you might only get a little) but to get the keyword anchored backlinks from blog posts. Again, this blog is aimed at those people who want to learn how to get CashCrate referrals and other surveys for money sites referrals. If you are just starting, you might not have made much or even any money yet and you still might not grasp the value of incoming anchored backlinks to your blog. This might seem strange at first that you actually want to make friends with your competitors. After all, every other blog out there that promotes any of the survey sites is your competition. There are hundreds of CashCrate blogs and they are all trying to do the same thing: get CashCrate referrals and make money. If you help each other out, won’t you be helping out your competition?

Making Friends Is Always The Best Option

The answer to that is that in most cases, two blog owners can help each other whether they are competing or not. This is another reason why it is important to pick keywords you think you can rank for and try to stay focused at moving up Google with those keywords. There are only 10 spots on Google’s 1st page and that means everyone can not rank for the word “CashCrate”. When you find someone to exchange links with, they really should be targeting different words than you. I have talked about that in this post about how to get survey referrals.You need to think creatively when targeting words and find keyword combinations that are searched for and are not directly related to CashCrate.

Even if you find someone who is targeting the exact same keywords as you, is it still beneficial to trade links with them? It is and this is because you will both be strengthening your keyword authority for your keywords. Remember, every anchored link that you give out and that you get back in is telling Google what you blog is about or what the blog you are linking to is about.

3 Way Link Trades Are Best

Trading links 1 to 1 with someone is OK but it is not the best option. If I link to your blog and you link right back to mine, all we are doing is passing Google juice back and forth. It is obvious to Google that this was arranged and so the value of the links is less than if someone links to you from out of the blue. Ideally, you want to have links coming into your blog and not going out to the same places.

As an example, lets say you write the most spectacular article or post on your blog that has ever been written. This article is so fabulous that all the major networks pick it up and link to it. CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC and all the others have blogs and news services on the Internet and they all link to your spectacular article of the century. So do hundreds of other blogs and the visitors stream in to your site by the thousands. Of course this is fantasy for the normal blog owner but in that case all the incoming links would happen because of something you wrote and people would be linking to you voluntarily and you would NOT be linking back to them.  

This is what Google likes to see: one way links. In that example, Google would very quickly figure out that with all the links streaming in to your site from all the news sites that your article was something spectacular and newsworthy. All those links would tell them what the article was about and they would most likely quickly rank it in spot #1 on the 1st page of the search engine.

You Need More Than One Blog

In order to get 3 way link exchanges where your links don’t cross, you really need to have more than one blog. If you just have one blog and the other person has only one blog as well, you are pretty limited in your options. If you each have multiple blogs though, you can figure out ways to exchange links and get the most out of them.

The quality of your blogs will also matter at some point as people don’t want to be exchanging links with blogs that look like crap or like spam. I know it is very difficult to write quality material when you are just starting out but it is to your advantage to start a flagship blog that you take ownership of and work hard on. Unfortunately most people will fail at making CashCrate referrals and money online because they just don’t have the time or want to work hard enough to do this.

The more successful you become at making survey referrals,the more you will understand the value of making friends, exchanging links and favors, and having at least one quality blog. You want to grow your assets into something that people will want to exchange links with and that means putting in some time and effort on at least one blog. Not every blog has to be your best but when the opportunity crops up for a possible link exchange, it would be nice to have at least one blog you are proud of and not embarrassed by. Remember, make as many friends as you can, exchange anchored links, watch your blog move up in the SERPS, and you will start to make some CashCrate referrals. 

It has been said that 80% of your time should be spent getting anchored links to your blog and 20% of your time creating content. If you want to get CashCrate referrals, you need your blog to show up in the search engines for as many of the keywords and keyword phrases you are targeting as possible and the way to do that is through anchored backlinks. In fact, anchored backlinks are the only way to make that happen.

You could spend a year pumping out the most awesome information and put it on the best looking blog ever created and if you don’t get any anchored links to your site, hardly anyone would ever find it. That’s the truth. If you want to make money with CashCrate and other surveys for money sites referral programs, you need blogs with tons of backlinks.

Getting Back Links Is Super Boring

Getting backlinks is the hardest and most boring thing you will ever do. Period. First of all, you need as many one way links as possible and not link exchanges. When you exchange links with another blog, all you are really doing is passing Google juice back and forth. You link to site A and site A links right back to you so Google views that as having less value. That kind of link exchange does have some value though, as long as the links are anchored correctly for the keywords you are targeting. There is value there and it is worth doing that kind of link even though it is not as good as a one way link.

One way incoming anchored backlinks are what you really want. If you want to exchange links with a site, it is always best to find out if some sort of 3 way link exchange can be done. This can of course only work if you have 3 or more blogs involved. A 3 way link exchange would look like this:

Site A links to Site B

Site B links to Site C

Site C links back to Site A

In that example, all the links are one way links. No links ever cross and so they carry more value. The more blogs you have, the easier it is to accomplish this sort of link exchange. That is another reason why anyone serious about making money online will have multiple blogs.

Besides link exchanges with friends and other sites, you need to go out and get your own back links. The business of getting survey referrals does not start and stop with your blog. There is a lot more work to be done and if you don’t do that work, you will fail. Again, this is why 99% of the people who try to make money online fail and give up. They are lazy and don’t want to put in the work.

1) You need to make at least one Squidoo lens. They are free and you can link back to your blog with a nice anchored link.

 2) If you have a real domain, you need to create a free Blogger blog which is about a related subject and link back to your main blog with an anchored link.

3) You need to write at least several articles with anchored back links in the author box and submit them to EzineArticles. These articles should always be original and written by you.

4) You should write a couple more articles and submit them to GoArticles with your anchored links in the author box.

5) Comment on other do-follow blogs using your anchor text as your name (see BlogCommentDemon 2 Review for a software that helps you find this type of blog).

6) You can create a HubPage about surveys and link back to your site from it.

7) You can create a Weebly  blog and link back to your main money blog with the anchor text of your choice.

These are just some of the things you can and should do to help support your main blog, get supporting anchored back links coming in, and have a chance at building up your site and getting it to show up on Google’s first page for the keyword terms you choose. Having a blog is a lot of work if you want it to produce for you. Making survey referrals and learning how to make Internet money is a long term process. As they say, it is a marathon and not a sprint.

Other Link Building Methods

In addition to the methods listed above, there are also hundreds of directories where you can submit your blog and get an anchored backlink as well as forums where you can have a backlink in your signature. The number of article directories (I mentioned two of the best) is also in the hundreds and you can spend countless hours writing articles and submitting them. You can get backlinks by submitting your blog to dozens of social bookmarking sites such as Mister Wong and Reddit. You can also join services like Linkvana and Backlink Solutions (which are both very expensive) that will help you increase your anchored links.

If you don’t have the time to do all this manually, you can buy software that will save you hundreds of hours. There is directory submitting software and something called Bookmarking Demon which can be used to automate backlinks from the social bookmarking sites. 

All in all, there are tons of ways you can get backlinks on your own and through friends. As you can see, it is something you can literally spend hundreds of hours doing. There is no end to the amount of work you can do to promote your blog and get anchored backlinks which will help propel your blog to the top of Google. The more work you do on your blogs, the better your chances are of seeing progress in getting search engine traffic and getting those coveted CashCrate referrals.

Lets hypothetically say that Lisa discovers CashCrate and wants to start a blog and get referrals. She starts a free Blogger blog and calls it “CashCrate is Great” and it’s URL is http://cashcrateisgreat.blogspot.com.

Let’s also say that Lisa, like most bloggers, knows nothing about search engine optimization, keywords, how to get traffic, how to get links, what links are, what anchored links are, etc. She just wants to start a blog to tell the world how great CashCrate is and hopes people will read it and sign up. She has no plan and she has no knowledge of how to execute a plan even if she did have a plan.

This, unfortunately, is what many people do when they first start out to try and make money online. Many of the people who sign up for CashCrate hang out in the forums or hear one way or another that the best way to get traffic is by starting a blog. They don’t know anything more than that so they start a blog. Then they put up a few posts, maybe a few CashCrate tips, maybe even a picture of their last check.

And then they wait for people to come.

And they wait.

But no one comes.

And so they wait some more.

And still no one comes.

Then they get discouraged and either quit or go back to the forum and proudly put their blog URL in their forum signature and tell people “Hey I started a blog come check it out”. They might even go to other forums and put their blog in their signature and then make lots of posts hoping to get traffic from those forums. They might spend hours a day doing this: signing up to all the forums they can find and trolling the boards looking for threads where they can make a comment and leave their links. That is a lot of hard work.

And then they go back to their blog and wait some more.

And wait some more.

They keep checking their stats but hardly anyone is showing up.

Oh, they might get a bit of traffic and they might even get a few signups. But nothing to write home about and it is extremely boring trolling those boards everyday looking for threads where they can post a comment and leave their signature with CashCrate link. 

Finally they give up or go back yet again to the CashCrate forum just to hang out. One thing they don’t realize is that the people at the CachCrate forum have already signed up for CashCrate. You can’t make many referrals at a place where everyone has already signed up! Yes, you can make some money at forums where they haven’t heard of Cash Crate but again, who wants to spend the rest of their life leaving meaningless posts on forum message boards hoping someone will click their link? I know I certainly don’t.  

What you need is for people to be able to find your blog on their own without you having to scour the forums every day. You need to get your blog on the first page of Google for as many CashCrate and make money related keywords as you can so that they will come to you. You want your blog to be a store with an open door where the customers just come in all by themselves from the street! 

So, why then should you care about getting anchored back links? If you choose a plan of action and the right keywords, with enough anchored back links the people will come to you. Your blog will be on the first page of Google and you will just sit there and people will find you. If they are targeted visitors who need or want money, you will have a good chance of signing them up. You will have a good chance of making lots of survey referrals and making money.

Unfortunately, getting anchored back links is hard work. Unless you have a spectacular blog with extremely interesting articles and posts, people will not just link to you. And if they do, most of them will not link to you using the anchor text you want them to. Alas, nothing is ever that easy is it?

What you will have to do is go out and get those anchored links. This can be done in many different ways using many different methods but in order to get your blogs to the top of Google and get those Cashcrate referrals, it has to be done. Those methods will be the topics of many of my future posts I am sure.

Let’s say that I want people to link to this blog with the keywords “CashCrate referrals” because, afterall, that is what this blog is about. I want people to link to me using those words so that Google will know that is what we are discussing here and I want this blog to have authority for that term.

Both of those links will take the clicker to the exact same place: this blog. But one of those links helps me and the other is worthless. Guess which is which.

This first link is just a link that doesn’t tell Google anything. Well, it tells Google that this site is about http://paidonlinesurveysformoney.com/ which really doesn’t tell it anything because no one is going to ever type that in. Ever. Do you understand that? Nobody is ever going to go to their computer, turn it on, connect to the Internet, and then out of the blue type in http://paidonlinesurveysformoney.com/.

The second link is an anchored link and it will take the clicker to the same place (this blog) but that link tells Google that this site is about how to make cashcrate referrals. If people sign up to CashCrate and do some surveys but then decide they want to learn how to start referring others, they will go to Google and search for “CashCrate referrals” or “how to make CashCrate referrals” or some other variation of that.  I want this blog to rank high for that and so this type of link is valuable because it will help me get this blog to rise in the search engine rankings for CashCrate referrals.

There are two ways to make an anchored link on your blog. This first is the easiest:

Highlight the words you want to make the link out of like I have above. and the click on the little link icon above it. There is an icon with a link picture and an icon with a link breaking right next to it which can be used to remove the link from the words. When you click the “link” icon it will bring up this box:

You then put the URL of where you want the link to take the person who clicks it and then click the “Insert” button in the lower right and you will have made your first anchored link.

The second way to make an anchored link is to go to the HTML section of blog interface and type in:

You then put the URL you want in between the ” ” and the words you want for the link in between the    > <     In this case the link would look like this in the HTML section:

and it would look like this after you publish your blog:

So that is how you put anchored links on your blog. When someone else asks you for a link they are probably wanting an anchored link so you should ask them what they want the link to say. Giving them anything other than an anchored link is a waste of your time and their time.

If you want to get paid survey refferals or any kind of affiliate referrals, you need to get anchored links from other websites to link to your blog so that your blog will rise in the search engines. You can do the social sites like Digg and StumbleUpon until you are blue in the face and starving until you realize that is not the way to make money. Even if you should somehow get a lot of hits from one of those type of sites, traffic will eventually die down to a trickle and then die completely.

The only way to get a steady stream of maintainable targeted traffic to your blog is by getting anchored back links so that your blog will show up for the words you choose. That is the way Internet marketers make online money and that is the best way to make lots of CashCrate referrals.

In order to get online CashCrate referrals, you need a blog that is centered on one main topic (niche). That topic ultimately has to involve making money or the need to make money otherwise your readers would never have the desire to sign up to CashCrate. In order to get people to your blog (traffic), you need targeted organic search engine traffic from Google and you need to be at minimum on the 1st page of Google for as many search terms possible that are related to your niche.

When you get on the first page of Google (and especially in the top 3 spots) you will get traffic as long as you are there for keywords that people type in. In other words, if you own the top spot on Google for “intelligent blue ants”, you won’t get any traffic because no one will ever look for that. So, having the top spot or being on the first page for things that no one searches for will do you no good whatsoever.

However, if you are in the top spot for “paid online surveys“, you will get traffic because those three terms are searched for many times everyday. The trick is to get your blog on Google’s first page for terms that are searched. If you can do that, the more the terms are searched, the more money you will make (provided you figure out how to monetize your incoming traffic).

This is another post on the importance of getting anchored back links to your blogs which will create blog authority. When you start a blog, you want it to be about something specific and for it to gain authority for that subject. Most people start a blog with no goal or plan and it meanders all over the place. One day they write about gardening and the next they write about the great movie they just saw. Ultimately they have posts about a huge variety of things and blog authority for nothing. What this means is that Google has no idea about what their blog is about so they never rank high for anything.

The blogs that make money are centered around one subject and have tons of authority for that subject. Celebrity blogs are hot right now (the top ones make tens of thousands of dollars a month) and they have authority for anything to do with Hollywood, movies, movie stars, and celebrities in general. They only post about celebrities and many of the incoming back links are anchored for celebrities. This steady stream of incoming links about celebrities tells Google that the blog is about celebrities. Make sense?

When I started this blog, I knew I wanted it to be about getting “CashCrate referrals” along with anything else to do with making money with “paid online surveys” and “surveys for money“. There is hardly any competition for the two words “CashCrate referrals” and as I check right now, I am already on the first page of Google in 9th spot for that term. I was able to accomplis this because, unfortunately for me, not that many people search for that term and there is very little competition for it. Because there is so little competition, I believe I will be able to get to the top spot (or close to it) without too much trouble.

The more competition there is for a term, the harder it is to get to Google’s front page and then up to the top three spots. Of course this makes sense because everyone wants to rank for the popular terms so they can get readers and make money. If you get to the top spot easily without many links or much work, it probably means there is not much demand for those words and not too many people type them in. My blue ant scenario from above is this exact situation. Since there is no demand for those words (why would there be?) this post will most likely be on the first page and maybe even position #1 without any links at all. This is because absolutely no one else cares and is targeting the term.

The way your blog must get authority for any keyword or keywords is through anchored back links. Continually writing posts about the subject helps but ultimately it is the links that matter. Anchored back links are the single most important thing you have to learn about online. They are what make the difference between making money and starving. I read somewhere once that you should spend 20% of your time writing content and 80% of your time getting anchored links.

Remember that anchored links are NOT links like this: http://paidonlinesurveysformoney.com/

That link tells Google nothing about what this blog is about and that kind of link is absolutely USELESS. An unanchored link or a link that is anchored incorrectly is USELESS.

When you set out to make money online for the first time, chances are you will be overwhelmed by the amount of information that is out there on the Internet. There are tons of ways to make moeny and thousands of people and places that will eagerly sell you an ebook with the magic money making formula. Most people end up quitting because they never figure out what is BS and what is the truth.

Getting anchored backlinks is really the part of the puzzle that most bloggers don’t know about. Even if you pick the wrong URL, you can overcome it with the right anchored links to your site from other sites. With enough incoming links for a certain keyword or keyword phrase, you can rank high for almost anything. Most bloggers don’t bother getting any links at all and if they do, they don’t know what an anchored backlink is.

If you want to make money getting survey referrals from your blog, you need to spend most of your time getting those anchored links. Picking a blog name and then writing the content is actually the easiest part. Of course the better the writer you are the easier it will be for you to write the posts so writing the content may not be that easy for everyone. By far though, the hardest and most boring part is getting anchored backlinks coming to your blog from as many different kind of websites as possible. It is something you have to do over and over and over and never stop. Making money with paid survey referrals is hard work but if you keep at it, you can make some good money.

Up until now I have just talked about picking keywords to target and build your blog around. These are the words people will type into Google and if you have done things right, your blog will pop up on the first page of the search engines and you will have the type of laser targeted traffic you need to convert into survey referrals.

Once you pick your keywords that you want people to find you through, what is the next step to actually getting your blog to start rising in the search engine rankings for those words? What makes your blog stand out from all the others that also use those same words?

The first thing you have to do is write posts around those words and use those words within the posts. You need to structure your post titles and the body of your posts around those keywords. For instance, if you want to go after people looking for how to get referrals to CashCrate, you need to write posts about how to get referrals to CashCrate. If you get bored and start writing posts on your blog about camping outdoors, it won’t help you reach the people you are trying to target.

Ideally you need to keep your blog on topic and on target. If you are also interested in writing about camping outdoors, start another blog about that. Keep each blog to one subject or one general subject area. Unfortunately though, that alone won’t help your blog enough to start it climbing the rankings. Anchored back links will.

Anchored backlinks are links to your blog which have the words you are targeting in them. With this blog I am hoping to find people looking for paid online surveys and that is an anchored link. The more of those anchored links I can get pointing to this blog from other blogs, websites, and what have you, the more authority this blog will have for that term.

Let me explain with this example. When you go to Google and type in anything you are searching for (lets use the words how to get referrals), Google has a big decision to make. How does it know which sites to pull up? I am sure there are tens of thousand of sites that have the words how to get referrals somewhere in them or are about that topic. Remember, there are BILLIONS of sites on the Internet. Google prides itself on being the best search engine and so it had to figure out a way to pull the best sites up first and then the farther you go down the list the weaker the matches get.

Above you can see what you get when you type those words into Google with ” ” around them. It shows 50,900 sites with the exact words how to get referrals.

Now if you type in how to get referrals without the ” “, you get the results as seen below. It looks like there are 14,400,000 sites with those words or some combination of those words out there on the Internet. Thats 14 MILLION! Now, a lot of those sites will be easy to beat because they don’t have those exact words but either way you look at it, there are a lot of sites ahead of you and somehow you have to pass all of them if you want that exact traffic.

A simplistic way of explaining links, anchored links, and anchored backlinks is that Google has decided that an anchored link to a site is a vote for that site. So, when I make a link to this site with the words “how to get online survey referrals“, I have just told Google that I think this site is about how to get online survey referrals. My other two links toward sthe top of this post also tell Google that my site is for slightly different things as well. Each anchored link is a “vote” for my site being about whatever the link says it is.

This is a very complicated subject that could never be covered in one post. All links are not of equal value and the three that I have put in this post won’t really help a whole lot but they won’t hurt. What I need for this blog, and what you need for your blogs, are as many anchored links that you can get from other blogs and websites that all have the keyword terms you are shooting for.

So, going back to the “how to get referrals” scenario from above, if that is what your blog was about, you would need as many anchored incoming links from other blogs and websites that all had to do with that subject. You would want everyone to link to your blog using any variety of terms that all had to do with ‘referrals’, and “how to get”. Some examples might be:

how to make referrals
how to make CashCrate referrals
how to refer
how to get survey referrals
how to make online surveys referrals
how to get more survey referrals
how to refer people to CashCrate
how to make paid surveys referrals

These are all keyword terms that you would love to have people link to you with if you had a blog specifically about making referrals to the survey sites. This would build your blog’s authority for all those terms and eventually you would move up the search engine rankings (SERPS) and be on the first page of Google for many of those phrases.

There are many ways to make money on the Internet and one of them is with blogs. Whether they are free blogs or not, you can make money with blogs if you know how to get referrals to the surveys for money sites. Really it comes down to doing three things: keyword research, writing content, and getting links. All three of those things are important but once you have done the first two, it is all about the links. You can never get enough targeted anchored backlinks and most of your time should be spent getting them. Much more about this in future posts.
